Wisconsin’s oldest state agency, BCPL is also one of its smallest in staff, yet its contributions to the people and communities of the state are immense. Through its management of School Trust assets, BCPL generates investment income for distribution as public school library aid; loans money to municipalities and school districts for public purpose projects; contributes to Wisconsin’s sustainable timber economy, combats forest fragmentation, and secures public access to large blocks of northern forests. Additionally, BCPL manages an extensive archive consulted by land owners, surveyors, researchers, and others interested in this rich source of historical information about the state’s land and early settlers.
